A new Gretsch (the square one on the right) joined my family today... I'll post a more complete review after I've had more time to get to know it...
My first reaction was.... "WOW"! It really blew my socks off! The fullness and clarity of the sound are unlike any amp I played before, and I have played a LOT of amps over the last 55 years.
I keep saying!
That Gretsch on the right looks like it might need a fret leveling.

That IS a match made in Heaven, by the way. That Gent is utterly worthy of the Executive and vice versa. My first close encounter with it was at CAAS in Nashville. What a guitar!

Mark, you are right! About a week (+/-) ago someone posted a "review" from Musicians Friend (I think) -- a person claiming to have been a luthier and and accomplished musician for 30+ years.... He went on and on about the poor quality of the Setzer model..... If I had any brains, I'd hire him to do a set up on this new amp.
Truth be told, the only thing that I've been unsure of is the front "look" of the amp. I would have preferred the Gretsh guitar logo, and the shape of the grill opening doesn't thrill me (although both are much less of an issue since I plugged in, played and then bought this amp). If the frontal cosmetics continue to be an issue, it appears that I can remove 6 screws, make a new grill cloth front and the concerns will be history.
The more I LISTEN to it, the less the cosmetics bother me.

Boy, I dunno. I think the cosmetics on those Gretsch amps are just top notch. Something the wife wouldn't be ashamed of having in the living room

Congratulations!!! There is NOTHING finer than a high end Victoria amp and a 6122-59. I hope this doesn't mean you have gone and blown the money you were going to spend on that Jaguar Tan Anniversary.

Those amps looking stunning; I'd very, very happily have one in my sitting room... only I'd worry someone would spill something on it and then have to die.

Man I couldn't agree more. I think the new Gretsch amps are gorgeous. I always preferred the drum logo. I've not seen any of the Gretsch amps in person yet. I would love to hear one after hearing all the positive reviews.
Don't get me wrong -- I'm not complaining about the looks of the amp. My hesitations were -- and these were VERY MINOR: 1. using the drum logo on guitar gear 2. the front grill cover going diagonally across the front of the speaker area -- in my mind's eye, nothing should cover the front of the speaker except cloth.
However.... I had seen this one before, and it looked better "live" than in photos. After playing my 6122-1959 through it for about 45 minutes this morning, it was very clear that I was not leaving the bulding without this amp. That would have been the case -- based on its sound -- even if it were pink and lavender.
The cosmetics of any amp are very minor.
I love the new amps and can't wait to give one a test drive. The appearance of them is also top notch! Congratulations Dan.

Some friendly advice -- don't rush into test driving one of these unless you are ready to be separated from some of your money! I speak from experience.....!
To try one and walk away from it would likely cause many sleepless nights.
I see what you mean about the logo but what the hey, it's all Gretsch and it's all good.
Everybody flips over the way my Playboy amp looks. The sound is splendid as well, though I just don't have much opportunity to put it to its proper use...as a lead guitar kind of amp. I play mostly at low volume and use the big bass of 40W of my tweed. I guess I should let somebody who will use the Playboy nab it instead of hording it because it is phenomenal.
Anyway, everybody loves the space-age look, as do I.
