Well there are three switches(at least on my amp)...which one are you reffering to? The ON/OFF bat switch or the Volume control/AC switch? Which is a pot & switch combo. Or the Tremolo control rotory switch...also a pot/switch combo)?
The bat switch would be a Carling. The pot switches could be any different number of brands. I've got a couple of extra Carling switches in a parts box.
Ah gotcha - I meant the on/off switch. I'm assuming it's the exact same switch as was on my '54 Gretsch amp, since my amp is (was) identical to yours with Tweed and no Tremolo. I don't remember though, is it a 3 way switch or just on/off? Seems to me there was a way to put mine on standby...
Ah that's right. There were two switches. Each was On/Off. That does pose a problem with regards to 3 way pickup switching...

I have been trying to find some info on this amp for some time now. About 2yrs ago, I was driving down a street in my town and low-and-behold whats that stickin' it's "ugly" plastic handle out of this pile of junk...you got it..."Mint"...as a musician of 43yrs, I knew what I had here, just didn't know anything about it, and I researched this with a fine tooth comb, so, Thanks for the info. The thing has the strangest grille cloth i've ever seen, still sounds sweet with any of my many guitars. Now for the good part...IT'S FOR SALE...will post pics a.s.a.p. Strut, my guess is that someone removed the grill assembly from your amp and covered it with cloth, then reinstalled (and perhaps even decorated it). The grill material that Valco used was a steel (they have been known to rust and 'pop' the flocking) screen, stapled to the plywood. Rather than remove this, most people left it alone and recovered it in the way mentioned above. I have seen a lot of Valco/ Gretsch amps like this over the years. Same goes for the amp covering. I remember bidding on Paul's amp along with him and we were bidding on a 'white' amp. After he got it - he removed the white material to find the original covering in really nice shape!
The flocked screening is currently not available for that amp.
However, they can be re-flocked..
Is the piping missing altogether or just dirty? It should be yellow.
Wow that's a cool amp. If it works I would just keep it (unless you don't play guitar at all).
