Rockabilly drum loops

  1. hey, I'm looking for some rockabilly drum loops to play over at home. So far I haven't had any luck finding any through Google. Has anybody here found a (free) source of these that sound good?

  2. Adobe Audition has quite a collection of loops available for free download.

The rockabilly file has a few drum loops. Unfortunately you have to download all 94MB of the file just to get a few drum loops. But on the upside you do end up with other rockabilly loops like bass, piano and guitar chords.

  3. Sony's Jazz drum kit collection is pretty good. I have 2 of their loop CD's and they are just fine. Real drummers and accompaniment if you want to use it. I only use the drums and percussion when my drummer is MIA.

Just checked 'em out. +1 Antik! Thanks for the tip and the link!

  5. Antik, Thanks for the links. What player do you use on these types of files?

When I use Windows Media Player, there's a restart lag when I play the samples in a loop.

There are many programs out there for playing loops.

One freebie is Sony's ACID Xpress. They want to get you used to the program so you will buy the more expensive versions when you get tired of the limitations of the free version. Of course it does more than just play loops. It is not bad at all for free software. But if you want to buy something, definitely explore other programs since programs that play loops have widely varying capabilities and features.

To play a loop using Acid Xpress: Start a new file. Then under Option, select loop playback. From the file explorer window at the bottom select and drag the loop you want into the editing window (upper window). This should create a new track labeled with the name of the loop file. Put the cursor to the right of the track control bar into the track time bar window and a pencil should appear. Click and drag the pencil across the time bar to "write" in the sound from the loop. Now press the play button at the bottom of the track window. You may need to adjust the time for the loop region to get a seamless loop.

  7. I have a couple of rockabilly mp3s I could send your way. I sent you a PM earlier, though I'm not sure it went through.

    Cheers…

  8. Antik, Thanks, works flawlessly!

  9. jbeadle,

Are those rockabilly backing tracks? Please send it to me at greaserbunny@yahoo.com

    Been looking over the net.

Greg, are you using Acid xpress? And is the sample looping after 2 seconds or does it not loop at all. If it loops after 2 seconds or so, the loop region is probably set at 2 seconds. You can expand the loop region by graping the left vertical time bar at the top where the purple loop region indicator is located(above where the time is labeled) Just click when the horizontal move indicator, < -- > , pops up and drag the time marker to the left.

If it does not loop at all, you need to set up a loop region, then click inside it to set the time pointer for inside the loop region and you are ready to play. Also make sure the sample sound fills the whole loop region. If it does not get the pencil to appear again and "write" the sound into the track.

  12. Wow,i didnt know it was that complicated!i will start digging.I hope this works cause i have really been looking for something like this. Shit i was close to hiring a drummer to lay down some tracks!{almost}I have a zoom g1 effects pedal with a ton of drum tracks.Do you think they have anything that resembles swing\rockabilly????not bloody likely. Thanks Antik

  13. Greg, it is not hard at all really. Here is a screen capture that shows a loop region with a drum sample:

  14. You've mentioned CDs, MP3s and downloading.

What do you play these loops on?

(I'm using a ancient Korg Rhythmer right now. It's okay, but it'd be nice to have some more professional-sounding accompaniment).

  15. You need to use your computer... There is software out there that allows you to use loops easily. I use Acid Loops and Cakewalk's sonar when I need to. Fruity loops also allows you to create 4/4 loops all day long with any number of samples.

  16. I thought adobe killed loopology when they acquired Cooledit. It's nice to see it's back.

  17. antik i cant get the file to drop in that spot to the left of that cardiogram thingy on the right.and when i press play some weird electro music starts playing. But if i click on one of the drum samples,it starts playing. It loops and i can change bpm's.I guess this is good enough but i dunno. It all looks very confusing.Computer dumbass.Maybe i will get my 4 year old to show how it works

  18. I almost thought those cardio lines was me having an anurism!

  19. Help please. I downloaded the Adobe Audition file. When I dragged them onto the Garageband Loop Library, I got the following error message:

The audio file “ShufDrum03.wav” has a 32 bit format and can’t be used.

  20. go here http://www.betamonkeymusic.com/ and find loops, ive bought 4 discs from them, good peeps...

  21. I got a backing track for rooster rock (in the key of G.) You can download it via this link here

  22. Jopap.. do you have the capability to use 32 bit?? Some sound cards wont play 32 bit. Usually, your software auto detects the bit rates for this and sets itself accordingly. Need to check and make sure 32 bit is enabled in your sound card preferences.

  23. By the way.. thanks for the heads up on the 'billy loops.. I'm having fun playing around with them..

  24. This is an old thread, but in case anyone's still looking, www.rockthistrack.com has rockabilly drum loop packs for sale.
