Anyone ever try to make any at home?

I've definitely seen a link to a very detailed video showing the process, but I can't for the life of me remember where. I believe the maker was from France.

I always wanted to that but vacuum and weld stuff are needed, to obtain a poop tube.

Later TV tubes had a hot plate at 30 Volts. They would be cool to work with but since people prepared them at home back then, the quality is not very constant.
