Hi! folks, I need your help about this classic problem: having to keep yours hands on a guitar or metal part of a vibrato to avoid ground noise. This problem is annoying on my "Jazzmaster" and "Mustang". I've tried to add a wire between bridge and vibrato but it doesn't solve anything. Any help is welcomed!

Did you say on your "Jazzmaster" and "Mustang"? Might want to rule out your amp and patch-cord first. It seems odd that you can ground the guitar by holding on to the vibrato but running a ground wire from it won't solve your problem. Do you have any other guitars that don't do it? Or can you try them through a different amp? Just an idea.

You don't have a ground wire connecting the backs of the pots, do you? If so, you probably have a ground loop. When two or more pots are mounted to the metal scratchplate, the plate serves as the ground connector for the pot casings.

It sound to me like your Jazzmaster and Mustang are beyond repair. I'll be happy to take them both off your hands for $150.00
I agree with dmanlow. I would check the amp and cords first. If you seem to have the same buzz with every p/u combo you try theres a good chance that the issue is with your signal chain and not with the guitar. Maybe take the guitars to the music store and try them on a different amp with some of the stores new cables.
