I was reading a guitar set up book the other day and the author was very impressed with this Buzz Feiten "tuning system". The main component seems to be an overhanging nut.
Have any of you guys had this done and if so did you notice a big difference in your guitar being in tune all the way up the neck?
This is intriguing to me. I might want to do this to my Spectra Sonic.

I have an Earvana nut installed on one of my Strats and I can't really tell any difference. It is a compensated nut and only affects the note when a string is wide open (as soon as you fret a string, it's pitch is determined by the fret and not the nut). Besides, you can't use one on zero fret necks like my 6122 or my Mosrite.

It was every bit as essential as the Buzz-Stop.
I have it on two of three current guitars and I notice little if any difference. It was a serious pain to tune until I bought a tuner that had the proper magic offsets programmed into it.
Maybe I should have mentioned that 40 years of standing between a drummer and a bass player have diminished my ability to distinguish a low E from a f*rt.

Wow, I'm surprised to hear that. There is an awful lot of hype around the BF system; I'd have thought that the difference would have been more pronounced.
I've never tried the feiten system before, but what I do know is; last time I was in the studio I spent days tweaking the intonation on my SG to get it perfect. When I got it nuts on I discovered that I sounded terrible with the 2 other guitarist and the bassist! So to me, a little imperfection is ok, because not everyone pays as much attention to detail as we do. The way I see it, millions of guitarist don't use that system and get along just fine. Not saying I wouldn't give it a whirl on one of my backup axes.
