Changing out tuners...difficult?

  I recently got a 2006 6136T-LDS Falcon with trestle bracing. I love this guitar, except I would have preferred Grover Imperials as opposed to the elephant ear style Grovers that our on there now.
  

  I know The BlackRider sells the gold Imperials made for a Falcon and I'm thinking of switching out the tuners. This is a project I've never done before...seems like it should be fairly easy to to...what should I expect and look out for? Does anyone know if the screwholes will match up? Just looking for guidance (as always!) Thanks.

  Here's an idea you may not have thought of. Why don't you just swap out the tuner buttons instead of the whole tuner? I see you can buy just the the stair step buttons for $19 here. I'm assuming the elephant ear buttons sit on the tuner shaft and are held in place by a small screw the same as the stair step buttons would. This way you're not swapping out the whole tuner and you'll be able to keep the elephant ear buttons should you ever want to return it to original spec. If you want to get rid of the elephant ear buttons PM me. I'll give you $19 for them and then you'll have broke even.

  Simple swaps are relatively simple. By that I mean a direct replacement, using same screw-holes and same bushings/peghead holes. Just don't go sticking your Falcon in the drillpress, ok!

  And like dmanlow said, just change the buttons if you can. Just be aware not all buttons will interchange on different units (those made by different companies).

  let me add: If you're going to go with something completely different, you might want to take it to a pro.

  dmanlow - Thanks for that info and link. I ordered those buttons already, and I think you saved me about $60!!! I would have never thought to JUST change out the buttons...that's why I love this place!!!

  I'll change the buttons when I get them and contact you about the elephant ears. Thanks, too, 10ahcn for the info!

  Boy, has anybody else ordered from that link above? (Wildberry) They are suspiciously void of any confirmations or correspondence...I ordered over a week ago and paid with Paypal and never got any sort of order confirmation. I've emailed them and are not responding.

  Still no response eh? Maybe contact Paypal and ask them if they've dealt with them before. I'm sure Paypal must offer some kind of buyer protection. Have you paid for the items yet or just placed the order?

  I put the item in the cart and when I checked out it immediately took me to Paypal. Usually you have to fill out your name and address and THEN you go to Paypal. The item I purchased is on my receipt from Paypal...I think I may have to have Paypal flag this one for me...Nothing I hate more than when an email address claims to be for "service" and they don't respond.

  UPDATE - Looks like they have an eBay store and do a very high volume of business. One of the negative feedbacks was that they don't answer their emails. At least it seems legit and I'm not worried now...
