I TAKE IT BACK, if you find one for sale now PLEASE don't tell me, it is to late. Not that I will be too sad, as of tomorrow I'll have a Masterbuilt USA Stephen Stern on the way !

Want to buy a Gretsch 6130KPW (knotty pine top). Anyone out there have one they'd like to sell? Or know of where any are for sale? Thanks!

Anybody?!

I could probably find a Masterbuilt, but I just can't afford it. So still searching for the MIJ reissue......

7

both of those show as ended listings, Dave.

Pfft, they would be.

8

Actually considering a USA Masterbuilt. Any thoughts on here as to the quality of those? I have to believe 95% of the components are identical to the MIJ versions, so wondering if the stuff from the custom shop is enough better to justify the price (about double)?

The custom shop guitars are on a different level. What components make 95% in your opinion? The CS selects its own wood. So that's different - for the better. The Dyna versions use Duncans. Different again; no opinion which may be better. They use some parts that are exclusive to their shop and unavailable aftermarket.

A buddy of mine bought a CS 6130 from Phil's Vintage Guitars in the U.K. and it's a fantastic guitar.

Btw, where are you located?

I'm in Nebraska. And yes, I'm learning as I go. I'm guessing the knobs/pots/tailpiece/buckle/leather trim/tuners/inlays are the same. But I did notice the SD Dynas, and the tops and stain look way better. And I would hope overall build quality. In just a short couple days I'm gaining a better appreciation for the Gretsch custom shop! Thanks for weighing in.

This is a great place to learn. Didn't want to sound snobbish. When I came here I knew nothing about Gretsch guitars but that I wanted one. These days the addiction got me, I'm lucky to own a few nice examples and still I learn something new almost every day here. Good luck on your guitar hunt. As my mate owns both the MIJ and CS version of the 6130 and I've tried them, I say: If you can afford it, go with the CS. And keep us updated! Cheers.

No offense taken, I have several nice guitars and seriously need to stop, but that Roundup caught both my eye and my wife’s, and that doesn’t happen often. Enough to make me finally feel the need to own a Gretsch. There is no looking back now. If your mate wants to sell his MIJ, message me! Otherwise I probably will go custom shop route. If we can’t make a deal on the one I’m looking at, might even order one and wait the 6 mos or so.

Well, my wife just couldn't resist, so she bought me a custom shop version. Yes, she is definitely a keeper!

16

Yes she is. Pic's, or it didn't happen. (wink)

I'll wait until it arrives (since I won't believe it until it is in my hands)...

I think Dave is asking for pictures of the guitar, not your wife, but I may have that wrong. On the other hand if your wife has an unmarried sister that is as generous and understanding, you may want to post her picture and information. I think several here might be interested.

19

Sorry guys, my wife's only sibling is a bald brother, who is usually less than understanding. That said, until it warms up outside and I can take my own, guitar porn worthy pictures of my new (cow) girl, here's a picture from Wildwood of this exact guitar. Got her yesterday. Guess I'm jewelry shopping again....

Goes well with the 50’s round badge kit I fell into last year too.

Wow.! Worth its own thread I reckon
