WTB Epiphone Casino Coupe

I'm looking for the Casino Coupe preferably in Sunburst, but may consider a really good looking Red or Natural.

With or without case.

Thanks.

Mad Dog, thanks for the info. Kinda strange. It looks like the same guitar advertised on Reverb but when I contacted the seller through CL he said he preferred to sell it locally and not ship it. ?? Yet he has $40 shipping fee on reverb. Go figure.? He doesn't have the original pups either and I'm not familiar with those GFS pups.

The GFS P 90 are not the best copy of the originals P 90. Few years ago i've mounted a pair of this pickups on a Peavey rockingham. The sound wasn't very good. I've sold the guitar.

Naquat:

I've not heard those p/us or this model of guitar, so this is a guess only: You might be changing P90s even if you find one with the stock p/us.

If that case seems likely to you, then p/us are not a showstopper. I'd contact the guy through reverb. Is he really the same guy? I don't think you can list ship options there and then say no to shipping.

But once again, I could be wrong. MD

I got a great deal on one of these new on line from one of the big boys with 20% off. Unfortunately I was rather disappointed in the guitar and returned it.

Fretted notes were not clear (acoustic or plugged in), even after changing strings and doing a setup fretted notes had a "thud" sound. The pickups were lame and dull sounding, the bridge support screws were an extremely sloppy fit, the bridge buzzed, one or two of the tuners had bad spots (hard to turn).

I also played a full sized Casino today at GC. The back of the neck had a Flat in the center, about 5/8" wide, all the way up the neck. What's with that?

A few months ago I was fortunate to find a good, used 2011 1961 reissue Casino. It's well built with Gibson P90's and Switchcraft switch and jack. If I were to get a new one under $1,000 I would most likely go with the Gary Clark Jr. Blak and Blu model which also comes with Gibson P90's and Switchcraft switch and jack.

I picked up a 1961 Reissue Casino the other day. After spending two+ hours cleaning, restringing, and doing a setup I played it for a while. I decided to return it after the weekend. I couldn't get used to not having access to the upper frets. The guitar did sound great but would limit my playing and I'd have to bring two guitars to a gig. Not good since I'm also doing most of the PA gear….too much stuff ! LOL

The used music store dealer didn't mind. I took a dirty, literally crusty guitar and returned it to him looking and playing great. He got a free cleaning and setup and said he was going to jack the price up another $25. LOL

I think I'll hold off buying a Casino...

Yeah, if upper fret access is an issue a Casino may not be your ideal guitar. Did you like the sound and playability though? I really like the neck on my 61 reissue.

What is the music store? I want to see a picture of that Casino.

BuddyHollywood - yeah, the 1961 Casino sounded Great…hey it's got Gibson P90's like the original 1961 did and after I finished setting it up with D'Addario XL-110-3D's I thought it played rather well.

Here's a link to the music store Competition Music but he doesn't have pics of individual guitars on line. He may send pics to you I don't know but Scott is a pretty nice guy.
