Lusting After… 70’s Atkins Axe

1

Anyone have an Atkins Axe available? The right Super Axe might be tempting. I'd love to discuss if you have one collecting dust. Contact me at atomicwash at yah* dot cm.

2

Not sure what would constitute the "right" Super Axe but I have Chet's prototype.

Dave - What is more RIGHT than a Chet prototype? I've seen your threads!

I can't believe they modded it with a stop tail.

had beautiful orange super axe...bought it from rudy pensa (rudys music nyc)..his first shop upstairs on 48th st... one of the nicest looking guitars i've ever seen..(and i've seen a few!! haha)...the comp and phase effects were classic clarence white style...beautiful intonation & clarity up and down the neck...shape and body thickness-perfect...the transparent orange finish -breathtaking...small block "dice" inlays...killer looking..and perfect set-up

but...

the breaker for me (in my stupid youth) was the very flat radius fretboard...very much a fingerpickers/classical radius..i wanted to bend..ugh!!

traded it for a 60's tele..and got $$$ besides..the tele subsequently bit the dust too...the tele would be worth heaping $$$ these days, but i'd still rather have the super axe...

tho i've heard it's great effects went wonky with time...so that'll cost you to repair..with a good specialized repairman..

cheers
