Another thing I know nothing about. I was at the Hagstrom dealer today And sitting in the corner is this ancient looking banjo. Holy crap! It's a Gretsch. It looked to be in near perfect condition, just old. Price tag was $249.00. How long did they make these for? Just curious, again!

I'm not familiar with the New Yorker but I have a Broadkaster tenor banjo from the mid 30s. they made a ton of them for a while. I think $249 is a pretty good price if you were thinking of getting it. EDIT Heck, I might be into it if you're not going to scoop it up!

I paid $200 for a New Yorker tenor banjo a few months ago. Although these were apparently made pre-war, most examples I find are post-war (black pyralin headstock overlay with "Gretsch" etched horizontally across the top and "New Yorker" etched vertically), just like the guitars.

KC, pm sent. I'm not sure if they still have it but I sent the info on the shop. I don't get to go by there that often.

They also get some nice vintage amps from time to time.
