Maybe it was refurbished and a new serial no. was generated to avoid warranty issues.

If the serial number is on a decal or sticker, on the back of the headstock, it is a refurb.

Also, make sure it's not "KS" or "KP" instead of "K9". If you are looking at a hand-written serial number on an inside body label (not on the headstock), the "KS" might be sloppy and just look like "K9". I've seen this before.

If it's actually "KS", then it's a 2011 model, which makes more sense.
