My dad purchased a 1954 gretsch in November of 53 from brooklyn ny.Not sure if its electromatic or country.Serial# indacates year, model #has an x .Does anyone know what that means

Also, post it in the Vintage section, where more folks will jump in to help. Inside the upper f-hole you should see a blue and white Gretsch label with the serial # and a model #. Do you have the original receipt or bill of sale? The X6xxx number would be the model number.

It has model # X and serial # 10799. No bill of sale. I've tried numerous times to post pictures to no avail
