Duane Eddy's House of Twang

On this day in Twang history…

If you lived in Clovis NM you could open up your Oct 13th 1960 issue of The Clovis News-Journal, this ad would catch your eye and you'd make plans to meet your teenage buddies down on Main Street at the State Theater (Which is still there today by the way!) to see Duane and the Rebels in "Because They're Young".

...or perhaps you were wondering what to do around town in Waverly NY on the evening of Oct 13th 1961 when a nonchalant glance through The Evening Times showed you that the place to be was the Capitol down on Broad Street where Duane was being 'introduced' in "A Thunder of Drums".

And your cousin down in Cocoa FL had exactly the same idea on that Oct 13 1961 night. After leafing through her copy of The Orlando Sentinel she headed over to Brevard Avenue to the State Theatre to see 'Duane Eddy & Guitar' (Nice to see the 6120 getting equal billing with Duane!) in the latest Richard Boone flick.

Today is also October Friday the 13th. I've been using my 1950 Esquire pin-up calendar (art by Al Moore) for the past year as the dates match up perfectly. Tuesday Weld...sigh.
