DUANE EDDY & DAN DUGMORE Studio Summit

  1. http://www.musicpi.com/Duan...

Music Producers Institute live recording session workshop/lesson type thing.

  2. More details here:- http://gretschpages.com/for...

  3. Article in the NY Examiner about the session. The producer says, "“Normally it’s simple to find students,” he says. “You go to the artist’s email list and send out a blast to the fan base. Like Robert Earl Keen, whose fan base is huge: We sent out an email and got phone calls right away.

“But Duane Eddy has no list!” continues Fishell, who needs not worry. (Ed. note: I BEG to differ.) The hugely influential king of the “twang” guitar sound, thanks to late 1950s/early ‘60s instrumental hits like “Rebel-'Rouser," is one of rock’s first guitar heroes, and is bound to fill the room with a little word-of-mouth.

  4. Richard Baguley posted the original link to this session a week or so ago, and his was a re-posting of a message I had originally sent to around 250 Duane Eddy Circle members world-wide; so in a sense there is a list, although it is "second hand". You don't need to belong to the Circle to receive these messages, and some of the more interesting ones are recycled via the Gretsch Pages, so anyone who would like to be included in future mailings should drop me an e-mail at a.j.moir@sheffield.ac.uk - we're here to help!!

  5. Thanks, Arthur. Sorry I missed the earlier post, but there's only so much time in a day!

  6. No probs, Ojo, but do take up Arthur's offer.

  7. My apologies Arthur. :)

Since that interview last Saturday I have come to realize there is an e-list for Duane Eddy, so I stand corrected.

There are still seats available for this amazing studio experience. With all the great players on this session with Duane, I feel quite confident it will be an unforgettable experience for attendees.

Thanks a lot for all your help spreading the word everywhere online. We greatly appreciate it.

    Steve Fishell

p.s. Duane will be producing himself on these sessions with the help of steel guitarist Dan Dugmore. I'll be serving as host, instructor and food go-fer. :)

  8. Hi Steve, and welcome aboard. I live in Ventura and know your brother Mike.

Nice to have you, and I look forward to you adding to the wealth of info available here.

  9. Hi Tommy,

Thanks for the warm welcome. I was just in Oxnard visiting with my brother Mike last week, celebrating our Dad's 80th birthday. I look forward to meeting you next time I'm in Southern California.

I play a Gretsch lap steel quite often, so I hope that qualifies me for admission onto the Gretsch pages.

    thanks a lot!

    Steve

  10. Steve, you are doing a great job with this session - only wish I could be there!! We're all looking forward to Duane's UK tour that starts on Saturday - I just hope that you will get the chance one day soon of seeing Duane with Richard Hawley's band in the US!!

  11. A.J., Thanks for your help with my email question. The U.K. shows have been great! Candy Cole

  12. Thank you Arthur! It's a dream come true to host the great Duane Eddy at one of our MPI sessions in Nashville. I regret you won't be at the studio with us but I'm certain we'll be talking about you and this historic UK tour Duane is currently enjoying.

  13. Here's a new article posted today at sun209.com about what you experience at a Music Producers Institute session. Link...

  14. Music Producers Institute still has room for a few more attendees if you're thinking about attending this rare event with the one and only Duane Eddy, Dan Dugmore, Richard Bennett, Spooner Oldham, Mike Brignardello and Greg Morrow June 22-23 in Nashville. No previous recording experience is required. Duane and steel guitarist Dan Dugmore will be recording new material for a very special benefit project. You'll see and hear two new Duane Eddy tracks created from tracking to the final mix. Learn more at MPI's website: http://www.musicpi.com/home...

  15. Welcome to the GDP, Steve.

Thanks for the new links, too. Your projects look very interesting and informative and had I been 45 years younger I'd've found the money to fly over and learn!

My best wishes for a successful Duane "brace" of songs and for the entire project.

  16. That would be a most enjoyable experience. I wish I could attend.

  17. Just read the article in Sept. issue of Vintage Guitar and realized no GDP readers have said they were going to attend. Inquiring minds need a first-hand report.

  18. I was the GDP member in attendance.

  19. LOL Well, I should certainly hope so, Deed! :D

  20. Of course, Deed: your full report with pictures is awaited.

  21. I really wish I could have been there. I have always admired Duane's arranging and recording abilities, and to witness him putting a song together in the studio first hand would have been indeed sublime. But, maybe someday...
