Osborne Brothers?

  1. Billy, this may be a ridiculous question, but have you ever worked with the Osborne Brothers? Thanks.

  2. No, but I like them.

  3. What?

Meaning, what would cause you to ask that question?

  4. The bluegrass band?

  5. There is only one Osborne Brothers. Any excuse around here to play a little BG!

    Once More..

  8. Thanks Spike. Linky now worky.

  9. Deed, I had a conversation with an arms-length friend, and he's an X fan. I told him that Mr. Zoom posts here on the GDP, and he told me that BZ played with the Osborne Brothers for awhile in the '70's for awhile.

I couldn't find any info with Google searches, so I figured I'd ask the man himself.

I did get turned on to a great Bluegrass band I hadn't heard before, though.

I like how you didn't used to need to be pretty or handsome to be a popular recording act.

Congratulations on finding the Osborne brothers, Troy. They have been on my favorite's list for 30 years, or so.

They come from a time when talent meant far more than good looks.

Here is a clip of Bobby, still getting it done.

Last I heard, Sonny had quit playing banjo due to complication rehabbing from rotator cuff surgery.

  11. One of my favorite YouTubes of the Osbornes

    http://www.youtube.com/watc...

Gene Wooten is on Dobro in this piece and I'm tellin' ya folks, that man could Play that thing. There is very little of him out there. Bobby looks like Truman Capote and whether you like Bluegrass tenor sining or not it cannot be denied this man was a dead on accurate singer.

    Very Tight Band!

  12. I remember seeing them live back in '77 or '78 at the Norco, CA bluegrass festival. They really stole the show....

  13. Sorry for the interruption, but for a while I thought Ozzy might have had an unknown brutha.
