I recently bought a used Rogue violin bass, measured the scale (30" or there-about) and bought a short-scale flatwound set on the internet - no one locally had such an animal. To my dismay, when I pulled out the strings to install, the winding ended before it got to the nut! The place I ordered from will try and exchange for the right size, but I was just wondering what everyone else uses on these. Medium scale?
What length strings for violin bass?

Yep, medium scale is what you need. I use these- RotoSound RS77M

I tried the short scale strings first as well. That extra distance to the trapeze tailpiece makes a difference.
