I am not sure where or how I came across it (maybe even in some thread here) but this Hofner double neck guitar/bass is pretty strange and worth having a look at. I tried to get a buddy of mine to go in on buying it as a collectible, but he thought it was a monstrosity. Assuming that it is truly a Hofner, I think it's pretty cool and would be a nice addition to a guitar collection even at $3k.

I think the reason you've never seen those is they look like one wrong move and you're left with tinder!
Frankly, I wasn't even sure that it really was Hofner, but I found the Model 191 on the Hofner website in the vintage section. Only produced from 63-65.
This is the kind of thing that is so odd and probably rare that there really can't be a market price. These guys want $3k, if George Gruhn had it, the price would be more like $5k. It's just worth whatever somebody thinks it's worth on a given day, but I can't help but believe that if you put it under the bed for 3-5 years it would bring a nice profit either way.

The fact is I have never even seen a Hofner guitar. You've spark my interest. I'm very curious to see one and hear how they sound.
Doesn't it look like the bass fretboard is rosewood and the guitar fretboard is ebony? I wonder what's up with that.
Not that it's been replaced or anything, just that it's an additional unusual thing about it. I've never seen a doubleneck with different wood used for the fretboards.
