Anyone know where I can get some translucent flame decals for an upright bass?
This was discussed in the GDP at one point, but can't remember when.
The effect I'm looking for (you have to go to instruments, then signature basses):

Auto body shop or setzer, you can also try your local auto parts store. Also ebay has Flamed decals
I tried ebay, but with little luck.
Jeff, you are so funny. Here you go bro. Contact these guys and they'll make whatever you want, or search ghost flame vinyl graphics for cars or trucks and you're sure to find something. I hope this helps anti-porchboard man!

This one is my favorite!
Dude, Weston signs is IT ! AND - they're in Michigan (at least their phone has a Michigan area code). THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU !
That first one off ebay said he didn't want to work with me. And this is BEFORE he got to know me ! So I knew right away that was going noplace fast.
Jeff, you're welcome! Glad I could help. My ricer days with modding Japanese cars, like my skyline, actually did some good for someone! I can't wait to see what ideas you guys cook up... Post pics!!!
Most of those vinyl flames look really cheesy. By the time you pay for them and go through the work of getting em on the bass, you are probably better off paying a couple of bucks (probably around $150-$200 for what you're after) and having an airbrush guy do it. It's not as expensive as you think, and then you can get a custom design that doesn't look cheap.
bobby, the good thing about vinyl is that it's easily reversible if he ends up changing his mind. If a permanant solution is in order, then yes, having them painted would be even better...
That's true. It seemed like Jeff was pretty set on the Jimbo Bass though.
Problem is finding someone who has done the type of work I'm looking for.
Everyone around here does the loud Orange/Red flames. And that's been done to death.
I like the subtle translucent look of the Jimbo.
Most guys should be able to do this. Ghost flames are pretty popular right now, and any airbrush guy (who does motorcycles or cars) should be able to do it. It's just a matter of picking the right colors and laying down a similar basecoat.
