Wood & Wire Billy-Bo Color Change

Closeup, I didn't know these were chambered.
Dent that needs to be repaired on the neck.
And another one on the fin.
Okay, we're rolling now!
Back's painted.
Closeup.
Drying.
I wet sanded all the clear off and feather edged all the cut throughs.
Close up of the feather edge, finished to 500P.
New, slightly darker color.
If you own one of these you need to add an additional 1/4 of foam for the bridge pickup.
Ready to send. Note to self, always make sure the customer approves of the color before painting or you'll need 20 more hours to change the color.
Looks better in person.

This Billy-Bo needs a color change but hasn’t decided on the color yet.

Comments

  1. If it were mine, I’d go Champagne sparkle.

  2. since white’s been taken, i’d try a white marine(frost) w/ gold hardware

    oh or a burgundy sparkle w/plain chrome….

want to be daring try a pink burst again plain chrome ,ha,ha….

  3. Since the Billy-Bo was obviously inspired by befinned 50s cars, I think a ‘57-Chevy like Pale Blue/Cream two-tone would be the ticket.

  4. There were a gazillion two-tone auto color combinations in the ‘50s, and Curt knows ‘em all! I’m hoping he’ll help the owner select something we’ve never seen before.

  5. Wait until you find out who owns this one.

  6. it’s Billy’s isn’t it?

    May I suggest copper candy?

  7. Crimson and ivory two tone with silver sparkle binding.

  8. 57 Chevy Belair Turquoise blue and white.

  9. I’ve listened as he’s ordered fast food, quick and precise, guitar colors are another story.

  10. The second color will be shot tomorrow and providing there isn’t a train wreck it’ll be ready for Nashville.

  11. Back’s painted, looks like a good combination, Tim’s minds eye is saying darker.

  12. I’m with Bax on this one…has to be something one would have seen on a ‘57 Chevy. Or certainly some old Fender color from the early 60’s.

  13. Anyone notice a difference? If is different and the clear won’t be sprayed ‘till tomorrow.

  14. In the box, ready to ship.

  15. What’s the verdict? Did he like it?

  16. He did.

  17. ConGreTscHulations!
