Wood & Wire 1967 6104 Rally Neck Reset and New Binding

You can see some of the binding rot on the heal cap.
Notice the masked off section that was only done on HiLo'Tron models.
Drilled out and screw exposed.
Magic fret removed and two holes 3/16" from the edge have been drilled.
Neck removed and needs to be cleaned up a bit.
Odd that it has a 6119 stamp.
On to removing the binding, stay tuned.
As Baxter pointed out it's Rally Green not Cadillac Green!
As you can see in the picture the old dried paint is brittle and painted over the edge of the binding.
I ran a razor blade around the edges to minimize the chipping.
Using a sharp chisel to help remove the binding.

Neck set.

All back together.
Much improved break angle.
Maybe a little too much gloss?angle.
This one flies home tomorrow.

This is a GDP member who owns a cool Cadillac Green Rally. The neck was solid and the guitar played really well but the wasn’t any break from the bridge to the Bigsby. Because the neck joint was solid it was more fun than usual removing it.

  3. A minor point… Rallys weren’t Cadillac Green, they’re Rally Green. It’s a muddier shade.
