Wood & Wire 1963 Tennessean

Nice checking.
Binding rot and a big gap.
Damage to the extension.
Because the neck reset wasn't done properly they popsicled the pickups.
Part of the tenon was exposed so they applied red goo.
And shimmed the block which should have been trimmed a bit.
It looks like they were drilling for oil.
A better view of the gap.

63 had a resent neck reset which could have been better. The neck’s sitting too high out of the pocket, the bridge is bottomed out, the extension is sloped up and the angle is wrong.

  1. Even though this reset is rough this guitar will be great once the weirdness is removed.

  2. Hi Curt, Wow the Tennessean is being revived. It’s always exciting to see an old Gretsch brought back to life. I’ll wait with patience and excitement until the 63 comes home. Thanks.
