6160 Country Gentleman amps were packed with more features than you can shake a Bigsby arm at: treble brilliance switch, footswitch-activated tremolo with speed and intensity controls, a built-in tuner, the obligatory standby switch with pilot light and--if that wasn't enough--a phonograph input.

Luckily they were also great sounding, durable amps. Packing 35 watts and twin 12-inch Jensens into a surprisingly svelte 44-pound package, the only thing the Country Gentlemen really had going against them was price. They weren't cheap, and they didn't sell new, so they're hard to find now.

   valves are: six 12AX7's in the pre-amp, two 7027's in the power stage, & a 5U4G rectifier. 6L6's can also be used. A very simple modification can be done to accomodate the use of EL34's in the power stage. The mod consists of a jumper between the valve bass pins 1 & 8. A jumper, of course, needs to be added to both valve bases. WARNING: 7027'S CAN NOT BE USED AFTER THIS MODIFICATION HAS BEEN DONE. Although 6L6's can still be used.    First timer on the site. Rating my 47 year old gretch Amp. Also have 2 ol Gretch Country gent(s) (circa 60 and 74) Just sent a question to site asking 4 help finding schematic for 6160 C.Atkins amp. Only guy who could fix em went to pickers heaven. Need help keepin this tube amp an some others running. Got gigs to do and licks to play. An old buzzard Needs Your help thanks Pat
